Balance of Systems
Balance of Systems (BoS) refers to all the components and equipment in a solar photovoltaic (PV) system, excluding the actual PV panels themselves. These components are essential for the proper functioning, integration, and performance of a solar power system. The term encompasses both hardware and supporting structures, as well as electrical and mechanical systems. Key Components of Balance of Systems Structural Components Mounting Structures: Frames or racking systems to support and position solar panels (ground-mounted or rooftop). Tracking Systems (if used): Devices to adjust the orientation of panels to follow the sun. Electrical Components Inverters: Convert DC electricity generated by PV panels into AC electricity for use or grid export. Wiring and Cabling: Connect PV modules, inverters, and other components while minimizing power losses. Combiner Boxes: Combine multiple strings of solar panels and include protection mechanisms like fuses. Switchgear and Circuit Breakers: ...
